If you Pour Concrete
The foundation of your building is one of the most important aspect of your building. Insuring that the concrete pad is poured properly will insure that you are satisfied with your building in the years to come and help prevent water intrusion into your building from under the base rail.
Customers can pour the concrete to the exact dimension of the building HOWEVER. when applying concrete anchors the foundation can be chipped or cracked at the edges for which. We recommend the following solution to the matter below:
RECOMMENDED INSTRUCTIONS
1. POUR the concrete 3 inches wider AND longer than the building footprint.
Example: A BUILDING: 18 x20 on the ground (1ft shorter than roof!)
= CONCRETE PAD 18′ 3″ wide X 20′ 3″ long
This means that our contractor will center the building so that there is 1 ¼ inches of exposed concrete on the sides and ends of the building
2. SLOPE the 1 ¼ Inches of exposed concrete all the way around the building in a ¾ inch DOWNWARD SLOPE- AWAY from the building so that any water that falls onto the exposed concrete will roll AWAY from the inside of the building.
3. NOTE: ANS Steel Carports does not provide any warranty for leaking under the base rail of the building.
4. CONSIDER: These Instructions should prevent water intrusion in your building, however, you can add a Base Rail Sealant package where the contractor will bead silicone under the base rail as it is placed onto the concrete pad. The seal will help prevent water intrusion into the building but it Is not guaranteed}. Note: The silicone seal can break with time due to the changes in temperature from hot to cold. The customer may need to add additional silicone over time where water Intrusion inside the building appears. Again, no warranty with the silicone package.
s. DOORS: Pouring the concrete at the placement of the doors with the same

MOBILE HOME ANCHORS (MHA) are 30 inches long and cork screwed Into the dirt or gravel. They are installed on the inside of the building railing unless customer specifies otherwise. These anchors have to be cut and re-purchased if the building is ever moved.
ASPHALT ANCHORS are 30 inches long and driven into the asphalt. They are specifically made for the asphalt and installed the same way as the mobile home anchors.
CONCRETE ANCHORS are specific for use in concrete. We use 6 inch long, ½ inch diameter red-head anchors. We suggest that the concrete is at least 3 inches wider and longer than the building to prevent cracking or busting the concrete. For example, on a 30×31 building we would suggest the concrete be 30ft 3in wide, and 30ft 3in long. All Steel carports assumes no liability for damage done to concrete during normal anchoring application.
REBAR is a 3ft long straight rod for dirt or gravel. They are installed through the base rale into the ground. They are not attached like a mobile home anchor. These are a temporary anchor with no wind warranty. .
